Staring dejectedly at her monitor and attempting to ignore the almost palpable presence of Angel lounging somewhere behind her, Cordy reached in for another M & M....
Six days and three hours since she'd stopped with the buying of Butterfingers. She could still see in her mind's eye the pained acknowledgement in darkened eyes and disappointed slump of Angel's shoulders the first day she'd pulled out the M & Ms and proceeded to easily open the small packet.
Things hadn't changed. Cordy still wanted him with the force of a tsunami, something that had swelled and surged, gathering strength over the past several months. After his achingly sorrowful expression on seeing that packet of M & Ms, she had more than a suspicion that she wasn't the only one not enjoying the loss of the Butterfingers.
Looking as far back as even a year ago, Cordy never would have guessed she'd end up being in lust and love with Angel. But he still had a soul that was much easier to open, access and finish off than that of a Butterfinger.
Eyes blurring a little with the moisture of deep regret, the hard-shelled candy she flicked absently in the air to catch in her mouth missed its mark. Blinking rapidly, she looked down in time to see the tiny red M & M fall into her shirt and disappear between the generous slopes of her partially displayed breasts.
Muttering a muffled curse, Cordy dropped the packet onto her desk and slid her chair back in readiness to pop to the bathroom; then almost jumped out of her skin when her back abruptly hit a hard wall of muscle.
The gentle slide of cool fingers against the heated skin of her sternum momentarily halted her breath. Startled hazel eyes shot up to meet heated brown. The fingers delved without pause until the pad of one touched the elusive candy. Cordy waited for him to flick it out, but he held it in place while his other fingers stroked lightly against her silky skin.
"You can stop looking now, you've got it," she finally husked out, the breath catching in her throat when the cool raspy slide of skin burrowed further towards No Man's Land.
"I know." His pupils dilated as the pads of his fingers smoothed the skin directly over her rapidly thrumming heart. "But I’m not ready to let go yet." The double entendre hung in the air between them.
After a long pause, she slowly turned round; his hand drew out, bringing the M&M with it. Searching looks followed until finally they tore their eyes away and instead gazed at the chocolate candy held between them.
An awkward silence prevailed. Cordy cleared her throat and commented breathlessly: “You know, it doesn’t actually melt in your hands,” and then abruptly leant forward. Opening her mouth around his fingers, and curling her tongue between to catch the candy, she slowly drew her lips along his flesh.
Catching his rapt gaze, she sucked slowly on the candy, feeling the hard shell fragment against her tongue. A wide smile lit Cordy’s features. “It melts in your mouth,” she huskily explained.
Looking quickly behind her, disappointment pursed her full lips as she stared at the candy wrapper before turning back with a frown creasing her brow. Instantly Angel asked her; “What’s wrong?” unsure as to what had caused the sudden change in her demeanor.
Cordy sighed heavily. “It was my last one.” She explained. “Now you can’t have one, too.” As a pout grew on her lovely face, Angel offered to buy her some more, but even as he spoke, the pout melted away as determination- and a hint nervousness took over.
Taking her courage in both hands, Cordy reached up and curled her fingers round his nape. “It doesn’t matter. I can share this one.”
Her warm breath feathered over his lips- and suddenly that moist, luscious mouth was pressing against his. All thought fled from Angel's mind as sensation surged in and took charge.
Even as their lips met, a small voice in her head was telling her that this was a bad idea. She should back off. But as Angel hadn’t pulled away, her confidence grew enough to ignore the panicked warning. Just one kiss wouldn’t hurt, she thought.
Liar whispered back as her mouth molded with his. It could never be just one kiss
Cool satin soothed the heat of her lips, but couldn’t douse the inferno that grew rapidly in her belly. Standing on tiptoes, Cordy leaned into him and increased the pressure, greedy for more.
Moaning softly, Angel reeled her in, fingers tiptoeing along her spine until they threaded through thick glossy strands. Gently, he massaged her scalp before moving on to palm the silken contours of her face.
Cool fingertips traced Cordy's jaw, eliciting a soft gasp of pleasure. Instantly his mouth took advantage, cool tongue dipping in to slide along her teeth. She didn’t need prompting to open her mouth wider.
The warm taste of chocolate that lightly coated her tongue melted completely as his own rubbed delicately over, letting her unique flavor tease his taste buds. With a groan he delved deeper, searching out every crevice until she pressed her soft body even closer to his.
As lost in the kiss that as were, the raised voices that penetrated the main door a few moments before it opened had them both pulling apart. Gasping, they stared shocked into each others eyes- before Cordy turned on her heel and rushed to her chair.
Blinking rapidly, Angel just stood where she’d left him, suddenly colder than he’d ever been since becoming one of the undead. The sound of the main door opening spurred him into action, swiveling around to watch, bemused as Wes and Gunn strode in, obviously in mid argument.
Catching Angel’s observation, Gunn jerked his thumb angrily towards Wes. “Man, English lifted my last Twinkie.” He glared over his shoulder at the other man, who shrugged and pushed past, hiding a smirk as he did so. “I was saving that for later.”
“Ever heard of the phrase ‘sharing the wealth’?” Wes returned smugly just before darting into his office and closing the door firmly behind him.
“Yeah, sharing is good,” Cordy piped up enthusiastically- then ducked her head quickly as Angel’s heated gaze landed on her, his lips quirking with amusement.
Gunn turned his glare on Cordy before replying. “You cannot share one Twinkie,” he half growled. After a fulminating look towards the closed office door, he about-turned and strode stiffly over to the weapons cabinet.
Picking up the M&M wrapper, Cordy sneaked a look in Angel’s direction. Caught out, she blushed, but was unable to resist dropping her eyes to his mouth and licking her lips; her breath hitching slightly when he did the same.
Catching his eyes, she then pointedly dropped the wrapper into her waste bin, grinning slyly when the distinct clatter of M&M’s hitting the metal sounded out. The low chuckle he gave when her head ducked guiltily warmed her heart.
No more store-bought candy treats for me, she decided with a dreamy grin. Not when she had her own supply right there for the taking.
Mmm, Angel Kisses. Her new favorite Candy.
