Angel looked forlornly at the sunlight pouring down on Los Angeles, covering everything with a golden hue and making everything look beautiful. Frowning, he looked down at the leash in his hands and then looking at his new puppy who was looking right back at him with those big, sad eyes puppies get.
"You wanna go for walkies don'tcha?" the vampire cooed as he knelt down to stroke his puppy, "Don't you worry Cordy, Cordy will take you for a niiice long walk. Yes she will" he cooed with a big grin and ruffling the puppy's fur. Angel stood up, made a clicking sound with his tongue and patting his thigh so the puppy would follow him. He knew using the puppy as away to get into his seers romantic affections, but at this point he was willing to try anything.
"Cordy?" the vampire called out and the puppy barked, "Not you, the other Cordy. Cordy?" Angel called out again. "Cordy?"
"Will you take Cordy for a walk? I think she needs to go pee" Angel replied, holding out the leather leash to Wesley.
"Why would I need to go for a walk to have a pee?" Cordelia asked then gasped in shock, "Oh God, you're not having vampy sniff problems are you?" a look of horror on her face.
"No!" Angel defended with a scowl at Cordelia, "I didn't mean you go for a walk, I meant Cordy. That Cordy" he pointed to the puppy now licking her ankles. "Awww, see Cordy she likes you" he knelt down to ruffle Cordy's fur happily.
"You called your dog Cordy?" Cordelia asked through gritted teeth, hands clenched into fists as she glared at his back hoping to kill him with her best death glare.
"Uh-huh, isn't she a cutie?" he beamed looking up at his seer, "Will you take her for a walk? She needs to pee"
"I am not taking the four-legged version of me for a pee Angel" Cordelia told him firmly.
"But she'd like that Cordy" Angel joined in still looking up at her, "She likes you, see she's licking your ankles"
"Yes and getting dog slobber all over my new shoes" Cordelia growled, "Why don't you get Gunn to take her?"
"Gunn's too tall, she finds him scary" Angel replied with a pout, "I know she'd like it if you took her for a walk Cordy" his own chocolate eyes gazing hopefully up at his seer.
Cordelia looked into his eyes and her willpower suddenly began to drain, "I know she'll love you Cordy" Angel continued, holding back his triumphant grin and lowering his eyes. "I'll change her name if it bothers you so much..." he looked up at her through his lashes. "A-and I'll buy you Chinese and rent your favourite movie"
She knew what he was doing and she almost powerless to resist.
He saw her eyes softening and a small twinge of a smile appearing on her lips so he went in for the kill.
Angel stood, Cordy in his arms and sighed. "It's okay if you don't want to Cordy, it's just that it's daytime and the sun... I'll let her out in the yard and take her out for walkies later" he turned away from her and silently counted down.
Damn that vampire!
"Alright. Alright" Cordelia sighed hopeslessly and missing the grin now on Angel's face that miraculously disappeared as he turned round to face her. "I'll take the damn dog for a walk, we'll go to the park or something just quit with the water works"
"Are you sure? Because you don't have to..." Angel began.
"Angel just stop it okay, I'm taking her for a walk but you are changing her name. Got it?" Cordelia demanded and held her hand out for the leash.***
Angel looked at the clock, Cordy had been gone almost three hours now surely it didn't take three hours to take a small puppy to the bathroom. He fidgeted in his seat and watched the door constantly, waiting for her to come back with his dog. "Where is sh..." his words were cut off by the doors bursting open, Cordelia and the puppy breezing in happily.
The puppy's tail was wagging excitedly, Cordelia's face was flushed and a smug smile was pasted on her face as she flounced right past Angel with the puppy hot on her heels. "Cordy where've you been?" he asked, getting up and following her.
"At the park like I said" she replied, picking up Cordy and placing the little puppy on her knee.
"You were at the park for three hours?"
"Yeah, me and CC had a great time, didn't we schweetie?" she cooed to the puppy, scratching her ears.
"CC?" Angel asked in confusion.
"You named her Cordy right? Well, my name is Cordy Chase so CC" Cordelia explained as if he was stupid.
"Oh, I get it" he watched as she pulled a small pile of paper out of her jean pocket and looked at them winningly. "What are those?"
"Phone numbers" she replied, ignoring him in favor of petting CC happily, "I never knew dogs were man magnets before, we had such a good time today we're going again tomorrow aren't we CC?" totally unaware that Angel's plan had backfired miserably!
